Physical Therapy
Physical therapy (PT), also known as PT, involves the treatment, healing, and prevention of injuries. PT helps to relieve pain, promote healing, and restore function and movement.

PT is practiced by a professionally trained physical therapist under the referral of a doctor. A therapist may focus on decreasing pain with either passive or active therapies. 

Passive Physiotherapies for Pain Management Can Include:
  • Heat/Cold
  • Electrical Stimulation: EMS-TENS units
  • Ultrasound
  • Traction
  • Vibration
  • LED Therapy
  • Massage Therapy
  • Hydro Therapy
Active Physiotherapies for Pain Management Can Include:
  • Stretching
  • Strengthening exercises
  • Low-impact aerobic conditioning
  • Pilates

physical therapists physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians (physiatrists).
